About Lucy
Lucy was born in NYC and grew up between the city and Bridgehampton, until her family moved to Shelter Island full time in 2015. Lucy and her partner, Wade, bought their house in Greenport in 2021, where they live with their pup Layla (above) and their cat Bug. Growing up she always loved Greenport, and has many memories as a kid taking ferry rides to Prestons for wooden boat models to build and paint. She loves the water and sailing, she lived on an old wooden schooner for four months once and dreams of one day sailing around the world. Lucy also has a passion for photography. Before she was in the health and wellness field, she was a photographer for a NYC based clean beauty company for nine years. She still takes on freelance clients on the North Fork and Shelter Island.
Her new favorite thing is going to hot yoga in Greenport and then walking to the bay on 4th St. and jumping in the water; preferably in the winter….weird right.
Lucy’s Yoga Journey
Lucy started practicing yoga daily in 2014 when her first boss taught her, her first class. She was struggling with severe anxiety and migraines at the time, and he encouraged her to develop her own practice. This was when yoga changed her life. It's her spirituality, her meditation, her therapy, her safe place and so much more. Lucy loves that her practice is always evolving. She says that she honestly doesn’t know what her life would look like now if she hadn't had that encouragement to develop a practice of her own. Lucy always knew that one day she wanted to teach, so that she could share with others what yoga has given her. In early 2023 she received her 200h RYT certificate. Lucy is so happy to be teaching and that this dream of hers has come to fruition. She is honored and excited to share her practice with others.
Yoga is a beautiful thing like no other. Everyone can practice yoga, and everyone's practice is unique and meaningful to them in their own way.
Lucy’s practice is a mixture of Hatha and Vinyasa. If you come to her class you will likely see some deep hip and shoulder openers paired with strength-building peak poses. She has been told that her classes are very approachable and enjoyable for all levels.
Lucy’s Health And Wellness Journey
Lucy grew up playing sports (track, riding, snowboarding, water sports etc.) which developed her passion for strength and mobility training. The more she moves the better she feels. She has always been conscious of what she is putting in, and on, her body. Growing up her dad was very health conscious. He always made her put broccoli on her pizza and peas in her mac and cheese (now she won’t eat it any other way). He was always telling her about these new studies he would read about sleep. At the time she found it aggravating, but now is very appreciative of the awareness he instilled in her. In 2015, Lucy changed the way she thought about food when she started her journey with the Bulletproof Diet. She is now obsessed with hacking her body to feel her best and when she deviates she understands why she feels the way she does. Lucy does not believe there is one specific thing or one specific diet that works for everyone but loves discussing health and fitness. She loves learning from others, and sharing what she has learned on her journey to better living. Being curious and having these conversations with others, enabled Lucy to get to the bottom of a chronic cough that had stumped many doctors, and finally got rid of her chronic migraines. She graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and is a certified health coach.
About New Moon Health & Wellness
The purpose of New Moon Health & Wellness is to create a health and wellness resource across the North Fork and Shelter Island communities by supporting local practitioners and businesses in it. New Moon Health and Wellness is a platform for all things health and wellness. We are very fortunate to have an incredible health and wellness community that Lucy is eternally grateful for.
Lucy started this account out of her love for yoga and nutrition. She wanted to create one place to share all the local classes, events, and the amazing people she knows in the health and wellness field on Shelter Island and the North Fork. In the past, she felt like she would hear about events after the fact, and had a hard time finding upcoming classes and resources. Over the years though, she has meet so many amazing yoga teachers, healers, acupuncturists, body work specialists, massage therapists, and others who she loves and have helped her in her health and wellness journey. Lucy’s goal is to create a centralized place for all things health and wellness.
Please share all your favorite people, classes, and events in the area with me or reach out if you want to be featured!
