Health Coaching
What is health coaching?
Health coaches are health and wellness professionals who support and guide the client, to achieve health and wellness goals. This is done by giving the client tools and resources needed to succeed. This includes implementing changes suggested by their doctor, managing stress, eating more whole foods, improving sleep, and adding movement. Health coaches use knowledge of nutrition, bio-individuality, holistic healing, integrated health, primary food, secondary food, and coaching training to help set and achieve goals by providing clients with support and space to do so. Health coaches are wellness cheerleaders because everyone needs support, encouragement, and someone to be accountable to.
About Lucy
Lucy graduated from the Institute of Integrated Nutrition in 2023 and is a certified health coach and a 200h registered yoga teacher. She has always had a passion for health and wellness. She grew up in NYC, has lived on the South Fork, Shelter Island, New Hampshire, Florida, Spain and London before permanently settling in Greenport in 2020.
Growing up, she always wanted to be outside and loved sports and realized the more she moved the better she felt mentally and physically. As a kid her dad was very health conscious. At the time she did not care as much about health and wellness, but now is very appreciative of the awareness he instilled in her. Before she was in the health and wellness field she was the photographer for Hairstory Studio for nine years. Hairstory Studio is a clean beauty hair company, that taught her to be very conscious of what she puts on her body.
Lucy has struggled with anxiety and panic attacks, brain fog and ADHD, a chronic cough, and severe migraines. Finding Yoga in 2014 has helped tremendously with her anxiety and overall happiness. After many doctors visits with no answers, she finally got to the bottom of her chronic cough and throat clearing. She mainly accomplished this through her own research and conversations with others. She realized by eliminating gluten and avoiding bad oils she was able to get rid of it. At one point in college, her migraines got so bad that she had a medical excuse to miss class because she often was in bed for over a week with a migraine. Eventually, in 2017, after many doctors prescribing medications a great doctor told her to try taking magnesium, and since then she has only had a handful of debilitating migraines. She discovered the Bulletproof diet in 2014 which has helped her body in many ways, but really helps eliminate her brain fog and help with her concentration. Lucy understands how frustrating it is to know something is not right with your body, but not know how to fix it. This is why she loves discussing health and wellness, and helping people optimize and improve their health.
Lucy’s method and mission as a Health Coach
Lucy’s mission as a health coach is to help clients understand the importance of whole health and that everyone is bio-individual.
Lucy specializes in helping clients discover the best food and movement options to optimize their health. She helps clients overcome health barriers and issues, identify and achieve attainable goals, and eliminate and manage stress by adding more joy to their lives. Lucy aims to help clients find what works for them and make it fun so changes are sustainable and long lasting, as there is not a singular diet or movement plan that works for everyone.
So what is whole health? A whole health method is looking at all areas of your life that affect your health; not just diet. Most people, myself included, hyper-focus on diet or exercise, but this is not whole health. What has worked for others doesn't mean it’s the best for every individual.. Whole health is achieved by looking at all the elements in your life and trying to create a balance across all elements. This includes nutrition, movement, stress, sleep community (relationships and social life), environment (home and work), and joy (what makes you light up) to achieve your optimal health. Focusing on eliminating stress might have a larger impact on your health than what you are eating. Stressing over the cookie you ate might have more of an adverse effect on your body than just eating the cookie and enjoying it would have.
So what is bio-individuality? Everyone is unique in their needs and factors. Genes and environment are some of the elements that play a role in making everyone bio-individual. There is not a singular diet, exercise routine, social need, or home/work environment that works for everyone. Each person is individual and each person needs to discover what makes individuals thrive mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Lucy aims to help people create a well-rounded and balanced life so clients can thrive. Joy, stress, sleep, movement, home environment, and social life are just as important to health as what is put into the body so let Lucy help you figure out what your bio individual needs in all these areas are.
Health Coaching Program
During coaching sessions we will work together to understand your bio individual needs, set goals, work towards optimal health, and get to the root cause of your health concerns by using a whole health method. I provide several coaching programs to best fit your needs, all programs can be done in person, virtually, or a combination.
1:1 COACHING: Optimizing your health by understanding your bio individual needs
6-Week Program
Initial Session: 75 minutes (virtual or in person)
Follow Up Sessions: 3, 45 minute session (virtual or in person)
Wrap Up Session: 60 minute session (virtual or in person)
Check-Ins: Weekly email check-ins, one 15 minute phone call
Schedule: We would normally meet the first 3 weeks in a row, then one week off, and then meet the last 2 weeks of the program back to back.
3 Month / 12 Week Program
Initial Session: 75 minutes (virtual or in person)
Follow Up Sessions: 6, 45 minute session (virtual or in person)
Wrap Up Session: 60 minute session (virtual or in person)
Check-Ins: Weekly email check-ins, two 15 minute phone call
Schedule: We would normally meet the first 3 weeks in a row, then meet every other week, and then meet the last 2 weeks of the program back to back.
6 Month / 24 Week Program
Initial Session: 75 minutes (virtual or in person)
Follow Up Sessions: 12, 45 minute session (virtual or in person)
Wrap Up Session: 60 minute session (virtual or in person)
Check-Ins: Weekly email check-ins, three 15 minute phone call
Schedule: We would normally meet the first 3 weeks in a row, then meet every other week, and then meet the last 2 weeks of the program back to back.
