March Month of Wellness

Curated by Dr. Stephenie Pisacano (Tulsi Vis, Functional & Lifestyle Medicine), Lucy Nystrom (New Moon Health & Wellness), Kara Hoblin, and The Sound View Greenport

Every winter, Sound View Greenport reimagines its spaces to create a welcoming and unique winter wellness program, embracing the season as a time for restoration, creativity, and connection. For the second year in a row, The Halyard’s main dining room transforms into a rotating wellness and art collective, offering breathtaking views of the Sound as the backdrop for yoga classes, sound baths, meditation sessions, educational lectures, panels, and more. Set against the picturesque shores of Long Island Sound, this year Sound View Greenport is proud to host a more in-depth month-long journey into wellness. This special series explores how lifestyle, environment, nutrition, and mental health influence our overall well-being—bridging the gap between natural wisdom and modern medicine. Throughout March, immerse yourself in transformative experiences, insightful lectures, and hands-on workshops led by experts in holistic health and functional medicine. This month allows us to dive deeper into some of our winter wellness programming and offer up some one-of-a-kind lectures & workshops.

Saturday, March 22nd | 10:00-11:00 AM

We all have habits that seem hard to break. Unfortunately, many of these habits convince us we can’t change, make us unhappy or even harm our health. Through understanding Buddha’s teachings, we can then replace even our most stubborn habits with profoundly beneficial ways of thinking that lead to peace and happiness.

Negative states of mind are just bad mental habits, and like all habits they can be broken.

Join us for a guided meditation and Dharma talk where we will cultivate tools that assist in creating a more peaceful and harmonious world for ourselves and others.

No special clothing is required. Cushions and chairs are provided. All are welcome!”

Functional Medicine Lecture: Nutrition & Epigenetics with Tapp Francke Ingolia, MS, CNS of STANDwellness

Sunday March 23rd | Afternoon Time TBD

Epigenetic Interpretation is like having an instruction manual for your unique body. Every body metabolizes nutrients differently.

Optimal nutrition is necessary for good health, longevity and disease risk mitigation. Diet is a key factor in determining genomic stability as it impacts on all relevant pathways:  exposure to dietary carcinogens, biotransformation, DNA repair and synthesis, and apoptosis. Current recommended dietary allowances for vitamins and minerals are based largely on the prevention of diseases of deficiency. However, because diseases of lifestyle are partly caused by damage to DNA it stands to reason that focusing our attention on defining optimal requirements of key minerals and vitamins will promote genomic stability.

Learn about personalizing nutrition to fit your specific biological needs.

Deborah Stotzky M.S., L.AC

Licensed Acupuncturist and Yoga Teacher

One thing is certain, everything is changing, always.  Physically, emotionally, and spiritually we are different daily.  For me, one place I can explore my "varied states" is in my daily yoga practice. I have been joyfully teaching Yoga for 20 years and practicing Acupuncture for 24 years.  In Chinese Medicine, it is said: "Where there is no flow there is pain. Where there is flow there is no pain.”The focus of all my work is to create movement in both the physical and energy systems of the body by moving blocked energy and creating "freedom of flow".
I am endlessly fascinated by the many, vastly different healing paths that can lead to the same place.  In my Acupuncture practice I am very interested in tendino-muscular releases to release the energy body.  In my yoga teaching, I am interested in a sweaty, vigorous vinyasa flow that links breathe to movement, to unwind the body and open the channels from the outside-in and the inside-out.  Chi, prana, vital energy - move it and free imbalances on every level.  When I teach, I aim to create a class that is informative, transformative, challenging, supportive, fun and feels good to the body!   My hope is that each individual will take away some new insight about their own body, breath, mind and spirit.  In the yoga room, as a group we are the ocean, as an individual we are a wave.
